Sun protection blinds for a good night of sleep

A good night's sleep is very important. If you have slept well, you can take on the whole world. The importance of blackout in your bedroom for a good night's sleep is unfortunately often underestimated. Especially if you like to sleep in every now and then and/or take a power nap during the day. Do you like to close your eyes when it's still light outside? Make sure you have good blackout blinds in your bedroom!

What are sun blinds?

Blackout roller blinds are made of a blackout material. Often, the back of a blackout blind is made of a special fabric, which reflects or blocks heat and light from outside. Curious to know what this looks like? Take a look at our sun protection roller blinds.

Go for smart blackout

The majority of window decorations are now electrically operated. This, of course, provides enormous ease and pleasure. Smartblinds are also very convenient for the bedroom. For instance, you can automatically control our smart window coverings and even use them as an alarm clock. Simply set your blinds to go up at 07:30 in the morning and you will wake up to daylight every morning (unless it is still dark outside of course). In the evening, you can also have your smart bedroom blinds go down automatically for convenience. That way you can stay in bed and your Smartblinds do the work!

Extra sleep tips

Still having trouble falling asleep? Then we have a few bonus tips to help you doze off.

Ban the phone

Blue light. You've probably heard of it. Electrical appliances such as TVs and mobile phones often contain a lot of blue light. This blue light causes your body to produce less melatonin. This hormone sends signals to your brain that it's time to sleep. The opposite - undesirable - effect is that your body goes into an alert state. Moreover, a smartphone increases stress. Want to read an e-mail from work? Or checking the latest news? These stimuli can lead to stress and keep you from sleeping. Finally, the radiation from your phone would also inhibit your sleep. Reason enough to keep that phone out of the bedroom.

Blue light filter glasses

No television or telephone before bedtime is best. After all, blue light disrupts the production of melatonin. Are you still wedded to swiping through your Instagram feed before you go to bed? Or do you just want to watch that one late-night talk show? Then get yourself some Blue Light Filtering Glasses. Note: The yellower the lenses, the better the filtering.

Try sleep meditation apps

It may sound a bit 'woolly'. Yet you should give sleep meditation a try. The most well-known app is Headspace. A soothing voice takes thoughts to an objective place. This place - for example an antique shop - is described in all tranquillity. You will notice that you are no longer focused on your thoughts. Instead, you are sucked into the story. The voice gradually fades away, and you fall asleep peacefully.

More benefits of blackout window coverings in the bedroom

If there's one room in your home where the importance of window coverings plays a major role, it's the bedroom. The bedroom is the place in the house where you spend the most time and a good night's sleep is always of great importance. But there are even more advantages to window decoration in the bedroom that you might not have thought of. Window decoration in the bedroom offers a lot of privacy. You don't want to be disturbed by a view from outside when you are changing your clothes or lying in bed. Window decoration ensures that you can completely block out the view. In addition, atmosphere in the bedroom is not unimportant either. With window decoration, you provide a room with atmosphere. They dress up the room, as it were.
