There are two ways to connect Smartblinds to Home Assistant.
The first option is to connect Smartblinds with Eve Motionblinds Matter motors directly to Home Assistant. To do this, a Matter & Thread Border Router is required, such as the Home Assistant ZBT-2. This allows you to connect your Smartblinds directly and fully locally to Home Assistant. Do you already have an external Thread Border Router, such as an Apple HomePod, Google Nest Hub, or Amazon Echo? You can use that as well.
The second option is to choose a Motionblinds Bluetooth Motor instead of an Eve Motionblinds Matter motor. In this case, you can connect the Motionblinds Bluetooth Motor to Home Assistant by adding a Motionblinds Wi-Fi Bridge between your motors and Home Assistant. The setup is very straightforward: connect your Smartblinds with Bluetooth motor to the bridge according to the instructions, and then connect the bridge to Home Assistant.
Yes, Smartblinds can be integrated into advanced Home Assistant environments, allowing full smart home automation, custom dashboards, and local device control within your ecosystem.
The most stable connection method is via Matter over Thread using a compatible Thread Border Router. This enables reliable, local communication between your Smartblinds and Home Assistant without cloud dependency.
Yes, when connected through Matter or a compatible bridge, Smartblinds can operate locally within Home Assistant, improving speed, privacy, and reliability compared to cloud-based control.
After integration, Smartblinds can be included in Home Assistant automations and scenes. This allows coordinated control with lighting, climate systems, and other smart devices for energy efficiency and comfort.
Depending on the motor type, Smartblinds can connect via Matter over Thread or via Bluetooth with a bridge solution. The chosen method determines the range, stability, and integration depth within Home Assistant.
